Hi,

We did not get a response from you, so we deleted your project from the pending queue.

If you would still like to have your project hosted at Savannah, please register it again.

The re-registration URL found in our acknowledgment of your earlier registration will direct you to the proper location where you can re-register your project.

Regards.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

If you just wish you hold your scripts for building the package, documentation, and using Savannah for organizational purposes, that's fine. If you can post the scripts and any source, I can check them for license compliance, and help approve your project.

Hi there,

So, I'll try to reply to all of your questions.
As I specified this isn't a normal CD based distro but USB one and packages are really limited but if also this can be a problem I could just use savannah to host the distro's website plus any scripts and like binaries on some other server.
About GPL yeah, I know how it works, i'm not really new to Open Source and I wrote code for Claws Mail (PDF Plugin) so I think that can't be a real problem.
About the request to attach some code..so actually I don't have a lot... I have a bash script which generate a kernel with initramfs (which will be part of the installer) and some other scripts which deal to auto-mount the USB stick and show a custom prompt.
If this can be enough I can extract them from the documentation and attach them here:)
Let me know!
Regards
Salvatore

ps. I know you don't bite... you gore:)

Hi, I'm reviewing your project for inclusion within Savannah:

As mentioned in the registration pages, we do not host complete distros, distros isos, packages repositories, etc, for space and bandwidth reasons. We may just offer support for organisational purpose and dedicated software (such as iso creation scripts).

How do you plan to use the Savannah services?

If you plan to host such software:

Please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code. Alternatively, you can forward the code to me by email or attach it to this tracker.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GNU GPL you must include a copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every  copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long.  This is explained in http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Note that sending code to our repositories is a release, since the code will then be publicly available through anonymous access.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards.

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Macaroni Linux
  • System Name:  macaroni
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:

I would like to register Macaroni Linux which aims to be a USB based distro with a possibility of being extended for other storage devices. Differently from other distros such as DSL or knoppix, Macaroni will use a new 2.6.x kernel which also provides better support for USB. The distro can be installed with two different kernels and the installed one will support initramfs and will manage the installation from within itself.
A package manager system is planned to be provided and coded although at the moment there's not one line of code but only the idea to combine the XML/bash or XML/perl.
Macaroni Linux gets its name by the curious penguin which I casually found while browsing the web at this address http://www.gilesorr.com/photography/200606/200606.20060615.5260.GO.Nikon5400.html
and I loved the funny motto by Giles Orr: "Macaroni Linux, the distro with dreads". Finally I want to add the reason why I'm doing this work and why I want to share it with the GNU community. I'm doing a computer science degree at Bari University (Italy) and the head told me that I have to do a USB linux distro, just that, no more details. I choice GNU cause I couldn't choice anything else without considering me a retarded.
