I have uploaded a new tar ball of the project after modifying the files at appropriate places at http://gnowledge.org/self-platform.tgz.  Please let me know if everything is in order.

Thank you so much.

Hi,

Having a README file in a directory containing licensing and copyright information for files in which inserting such notices is either impossible or uncommon should be okay.

Please provide me with a link to an updated tarball once you have incorporated the needed changes.

Regards,

Stephan

We have now decided to keep the copyright with FSFE (Free Software Foundation Europe) since FSFE is one of the partners of the SELF consortium.  I will update the files accordingly and will send the link.

The problem regarding the ZPT files of Zope not having license information:  is it OK to have license file in that folder saying that all the files in this folder are releaesed under ..... ?

Inserting License in the page templates is not usually done, e.g. in Plone, which is also released under GPL.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are described below.

First of all, files in the skins/ subdirectory seem to be missing both copyright and licensing information. Please add both copyright and license notices to those files.

Secondly, is the copyright holder referred to in the copyright notices, a legal entity that can be assigned copyright? If not, you need to add the author(s)' name(s) instead.

Check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for more information, and update your files.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards,

Stephan

The SELF Platform is an international project with support from European Commission in which currently seven partners from seven countries are involved.  It aims to be produce a collaborative platform for authoring training and learning material. SELF is an acronym for "Science, Education and Learning in Freedom".

The SELF Platform will have two main functions. It will be simultaneously a knowledge base and a collaborative production facility: On the one hand, it will provide information, educational and training materials that can be presented in different languages and forms: from course texts, presentations, e-learning programmes and platforms to tutor software, e-books, instructional and educational videos and manuals. On the other hand, it will offer a platform for the evaluation, adaptation, creation and translation of these materials. The production process of such materials will be based on the organisational model of Wikipedia.

This software project is akin to what Wikimedia is to Wikipedia. The users of this software can be any educational or training institute that intends to run an online distributed collaborative authoring and learning service.
