Hi,

I have approved your project.  You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

But please, as mentioned in previous mails please update your COPYING file with an up-to-date one before uploading your whole project in savannah. The FSF adress is out-dated in the one you included.

You can find a good one at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt.

Regards.

Hello, and thank you for your time

I have placed copyright notices in every source file of my project and have replaced the COPYING(dead link) with an actual file; sorry my IDE --I use anjuta by the way-- handles this particular file as well as configuration scripts, makefiles e.t.c (fortunately enough it doesn't do the coding ;-)

You can find the updated tarball in:

http://www.softnet.tuc.gr/%7Ewhoneedselta/midwar/media_nav.tar.gz

...the source-code is still in draft form as I have already mentioned, but I can understand why we should be very carefull with our licensing from the very beginning.

By the way, the .pngs come from the gnome project, but as of this moment they serve testing purposes and are not part of my source distribution, I hope this will not delay my submittion any further. Do you think that I should put copyright statements for the pngs in the future ?

... I am looking forward to joining savannah and share the software -- as the rime says in :

http://www.gnu.org/music/free-software-song.au

thank you

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GNU GPL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long.

In addition, please instead of dead links ;) , include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL, available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

If some of your files cannot carry such notices (e.g. binary files), then you can add a README file in the same directory containing the copyright and license notices. Check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for further information.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.  To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

Cheers

Description:

Greetings, the project that I would like to submit is a fully customizable media content navigator, for directory-based (tree-like) organized content, which runs under GNU/Linux using primarly the gnome(gtk+,glib, pango) programming facilities.

That is to say that given a directory-path as input the program will generate a (customisable) visual navigation gui for the directory contents, acting upon selections (other directories, files e.t.c) according to meta-data (given in seperate .info files for each element in the directory).

The meta-data include information such as:
title, description, image(png-format) , action-when-selected , system-command-assosiated-with-selection , colors , sound e.t.c

The navigation input should support gamepads (apart from the usual keyboard and mouse)

A sample use for such software, is to create a so-called "freedom-toaster" that is to say a program used for navigating throught dvd-image categories, for burning in a "publicly-accessed" dvd-r.

Another use would be to create a private-collection navigator for home use (selecting audio-playlists, video-playlists e.t.c) through a nice front-end.

The code resides in :

http://www.softnet.tuc.gr/%7Ewhoneedselta/midwar/media_nav.tar.gz/download

and is very draft ...

Another goal of this submition is to get to know the savannah facilities better for my graduation diploma project at TUC(Technical University of Crete) that I would like to submit in the near future.(also GPL'ed)
