Moved to task tracker as this is more complicated, as stated in
comment #4 UDP ports are used by MLDonkey for special features.

chose one. but the option only if you feel like you will catch all the hardcoded ones...

Should we create an option now or should we better prevent
setting EDK_port >=65532 to avoid breaking crucial functions?

as i see it there is +4 hardcoded in some places in edonkey, that would have to be changed in either case (if we use an option or that -4).

Regarding the non-MLDonkey part of the ed2k network it would make
sense to have an EDK_udp_port option but we might still have
special MLDonkey features which require EDK_udp_port = EDK_port + 4.

http://mldonkey.berlios.de/modules.php?name=Wiki&pagename=port
"port+4 (mldonkey_ext) must also be open for the UDP protocol for XS (ExtendedSearch?) and mldonkey's style SourcesPropagation? to work."

so then we should add an option for that, right?

http://ed2k-gtk-gui.sourceforge.net/docs/en-5.html
"In Overnet the default TCP port is 4662, and the UDP port used is
chosen randomly on start-up... You can, however, make overnet use a
fixed UDP port with the 'uport' advanced command."

http://www.overnet.com/documentation/confignet.html
"UDP Port - The UDP port the program will use to accept incoming connections (like information on which clients have the files you are looking for). This port must be allowed through firewalls or routed through routers to receive 'Open' connection status."

Those clients, and also eMule, have an option to configure the UDP port.

does this work fine with the edonkey protocol? if yes: is it able to use any udp port independent of the tcp port? if yes: perhaps it would be better to have an option for the udp port.
