Félicien, thanks, and sorry I didn't get to this before.  Have approved the project.

Attaching a tarball containing diffs to your docu files.  Most of what I changed doesn't really matter that much to be honest; I hope my French might get near the level of your English one day!

Maybe it would be worth marking clearly where the files in "EXAMPLES" came when you have time (sorry if you already put something that I have missed).

Very best of luck with the project.

Best wishes

Hugh

Hi, sorry I wasn't home during a long time. Here is a temporary link to the tarball (uploading on savannah doesn't seem to work) :

Félicien, thank you, and I am also sorry for the delay.  I will be happy to review the updated files and produce the diff, but I can't see your updated files.  Please could you point me towards them or re-upload your tarball?

No worries about language - very keen to help if I can and your English is excellent, much better than my rudimentary French!

Best wishes

Hugh

Hello Hugh,

My apologies for the late response, I didn't see your comment (and I wasn't warned by email, which is strange).
So:

  • of course I can change the name -- even if I thought it was cool :)  Do you think something like "checkterms", or "lexicalcheck" would be better ? If you have other propositions, I would be glad to hear them.
  • It would be very kind of you if you could send me a diff ! I would like in particular to see where I did mistakes in my copyright notice... Sorry for my poor English, I am trying to do my best.
  • I have added your proposition in the ABOUT file, and
  • I replaced the uploaded file by a correct .tar.gz archive

The new package is an improved version, I revised the source code and added some features, but it is not working 100% well for the moment. I also added an "examples" folder, where user can test the script without damaging personal files.

Félicien, many thanks for this.

Some observations:

  • it seems possible some people may see the name "Terminocheck" and think of terminals (in the VT100 sense) and perhaps expect the program to do something like checking something to do with the user's terminal.  Maybe another name would be better?

  • I note that the copyright notice doesn't look 100% complete as suggested at [1].  I spotted a few linguistic errors in the various files also.  If you like, I could go over them and send you a diff.

  • (perhaps related to second point above) maybe it would be worth expanding the links to the original texts of the articles in the "ABOUT" file to say something like "original text and translations at" or similar.  I think that might be a bit clearer.

  • the file uploaded is named *.tar.gz but actually appears to be bz2 compressed.

Best wishes

Hugh

Registration Details

  • Name: Terminocheck
  • System Name:  terminocheck
  • Type: non-GNU software and documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v3 or later

Description:

Terminocheck (as in Terminological checker) is a Perl script which lets the user check and rectify terminological mistakes in source code or documentation ; typically it permits to replace occurences of "Linux" by "GNU/Linux".
A real program, instead of a simple sed line or something like that, is useful because it offers multiples possibilities (see context around the term too replace, modify term to replace or to be replaced, skip some right occurences, etc..).
As corrections can sometimes be subtles, only a human-being can choose which term is good for each situation, and Terminocheck provides an "user-friendly" command-line interface for quick corrections on an entire project.
Look at README and ABOUT files for more informations.
