Hello Simon!

That's not the case --- your project is hosted by GNU Savannah as a
non-GNU package. If you would like to offer your package to the GNU
project, please contact the GNU Eval team, following the instructions
at http://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html. Unless they approve your
package as part of the GNU project, please don't call it "GNU TUI".

Thank you for your extra-care.

Hello Félix, thank you! :)

Yes, i'm sorry for that.
I was just that confident (and too eager) that you will accept it with the recent changes! :)

I assume, as you have approved it now, i may leave it as is?

Hello Simon!

I have approved your project. You will receive an automated e-mail
containing detailed information about the approval.

Thank you for your prompt efforts in complying with our policies and
welcome to Savannah!

Ps: I've noticed you are calling the package "GNU TUI". Please, only
do that if your package gets accepted as an official GNU package by
the GNU project.

Hello Félix

Sometimes it is good (for me) that you may only do 'this' in your spare free time.
Gave me time to get a stable version that might stay as is for a while.

Hello Félix

I hope this looks better now, as i have removed the screenshots alltogether.

Thanks for your care and patience.

Had a chat at irc#savannah, followed suggestion to change the screenshots license to GFDL.

Changed: ,/screenshots/README to:: https://github.com/sri-arjuna/tui/blob/master/screenshots/README
//////////FILE START/////////////////
Copyright (c) 2013-2015 Simon Arjuna Erat (sea) <erat.simon@gmail.com>
All rights reserved.

The screenshots within this and all its sub dirs are licensed as GFDL.
See ./docs/GFDL.txt
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The screenshots are not meant to be installed!

The images stored in this folder and its sub directories are part of the GNU TUI package.
As long files are not listed differently in ./docs/AUTHORS.md, the above copyright and license information applies to each file found here.

If this package is redistributed as a whole, the screenshots must be included
An exception is granted by the author if you use the --tarball option of ./configure to redistribute the package in-house.
Likewise the exception is granted as well for distro-specific-packages (such as: aur, deb, rpm, etc).
//////////FILE END/////////////////

As your previous message started this is the only 'blocker' i didnt make a (another) new release yet.
However, this is an 'update' to the RC17 release.

Hello Bruno

I hope i did understand that part now properly, so i had:

 • Added README with copyright info to ./screenshots

Among other changes.
If that is not what i was missing, please elaborate the final (?) step required, reading over and over the same thing doesnt change the way my mind is parsing that information.

Release notes: https://github.com/sri-arjuna/tui/releases/tag/v0.8.9-GNU-RC17
(me have no idea yet how to do that on savannah, will be fun to learn)
Download: https://github.com/sri-arjuna/tui/archive/v0.8.9-GNU-RC17.tar.gz

I thought i had those license issues covered by the toplevel readme, by the means of the requirements requirest, quote: "Sometimes a program has an overall copyright notice that refers to the whole program. It might be in the README file, or it might be displayed when the program starts up. This copyright notice should mention the year of completion of the most recent major version; it can mention years of completion of previous major versions, but that is optional."

Hello, Simon!

Your package has the following issue yet that you should fix before we
can accept it.

- In addition to the license statement you already put in your README
file for documentation, small scripts and images, put an appropriate
 copyright notice as explained at
 http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html.

Like i did forget to remove the old screenshots.
Non-the-less, the license info for those pictures have been written to the toplevel-readme, as suggested.

Wanted to replace those pictures, as many are outdated and do not show the current state of TUI.

Regarding the screenshots:
1. Accidently uploaded two '*root*' compare images.
2. : tui-psm was renamed to tui-bgjob-mgr

Registration Details

 • Name: Text User Interface, framework for scripts
 • System Name: tui
 • Type: non-GNU software and documentation
 • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later (The texinfo manual is GFDL.)

Description:

Every scripter writes his own functions for very common shared features, like - but not limited to: status & yesno.

TUI is not only a collection of commands of such kind, but accomplishes its name and provides an interface like feeling that is very easy to attain and maintain.

It also takes care of issues when sharing your scripts with your own functions...
For example, when you need to call external applications, such as webbrowser, filemanagers or editors, TUI not only checks for you wether the user is in GUI or CLI mode, but it also openes his selected application for that specific environmental task.
In short? - tui-edit, might open EMACS in GUI, while it would open VIM in CLI (i'm aware they're both CLI capable).

Evenmore endusers have reported, they would feel more comfortable with a TUI script, rather than a regular script.
In the matters of: 'I have more chances to find the info i need'.

However, TUI would not be a TUI without its 4 core displaying modes.

 • tui-printf (the absolute core, but not as powerfull as its name-cousin)
 • tui-echo (like the other 4, first string left, 2 strings l/r, 3strings=left,center,right)
 • tui-title (borders, colored inbound, first string in center)
 • tui-header (borders, colored outbound)

Its all written in bash, because its all it needs, with the exception of the docs.

What's so special?
Ncruses is great, but its to compile.
Wiptail is nice, but its boxed.
But TUI... REALLY is for scripts.

Other Software Required:

www.gnu.org

 • bash
 • coreutils
 • awk, grep, sed

Seriously, i have to provide you those licenses? ;)

Other Comments:

TUI is in the evaluation process to become part of the GNU familiy.
yay :)

It provides no binaries expect a tarball that contains a template directory structure with some files for new projects.

Tarball URL:
