Hello,

Thank you for submitting a new project to host on GNU Savannah.

project hosted on savannah must comply with the hosting requirements:
http://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php
http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/HowToGetYourProjectApprovedQuickly

One critical requirement is that each file must have a clear copyright statement and licensing information, and that license must be compatible with GPL version 3 and later.

There are several files in the repository you've provided that seem to have been written by other people, or by companies.

For files written by other people (e.g. ./hdd_driver/file.c) - please ensure that the license is compatible with GPL v3 or later. This is especially important in some files which seem to have been copied from the linux kernel source - in the linux kernel source, some files are licensed under GPLv2-or-later (which is compatible with GPLv3-or-later), but other files are licensed under GPLv2 only. Those latter files can not be hosted on GNU savannah.

For other files (e.g. in ./src and ./scripts) - there is a GPLv3 license notice, but it does not include the statement "or any later version".
Allow later GPL versions is required for project hosted on GNU savannah.

For more information, see here: http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/GnuGplTwoOrLater/ .

Additionally, some documentation files (e.g. ./doc/HP16500CHardDriveNotes.html , doc/index.html, doc/HP16500CFatDriverReadme.html) use the term "Linux" when likely referring to the GNU/Linux operating system (and not the linux kernel itself).
Please amend them to "GNU/Linux" where appropriate.
See here for more information: http://www.gnu.org/gnu/why-gnu-linux.html
https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/words-to-avoid.html

There are also some non-source code files (jpg files and other configuration files: p1/p2/p3/p4/p5) - please add copyright and licensing information about these files, if not inside the files as comment, then in the README file.

Once these issues are updated,
Please upload a new source code archive to continue with the submission process.

regards,
 - assaf

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: Open GPIB
  • System Name:  opengpib
  • Type: non-GNU software and documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

Implementation of a transport-agnostic GPIB platform, with support for HP, Wayne-Kerr, and Tek, with emphasis on HP16500C. Downloads waveforms and output to gnuplot and vcd formats, the latter through la2vcd.

Other Comments:

Not sure what I'm supposed to do. No dependencies other than what exists on a standard debian install with build-essentials and libusb-dev.

Hopefully moving from sourceforge. I'm hoping you have git available.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/opengpib

Tarball URL:

git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/opengpib/git
