Yes, Figl is now accepted as part of GNU.  A mail was sent to new-gnu and savannah-hackers-private 2013-07-04.

What I totally forgot to ask: You specified "Official GNU Software" as the project type.  Have you finished the evaluation process on http://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html ?  If not, don't worry.  I can accept your project as "non-GNU software" and change it once you completed the evaluation there.

Hi,

I'm accepting your project.  You will receive a message with further details about the approval.

Best regards.

Hello

Sorry for the delay.  I believe I have addressed all points.

You can get an updated tarball at the same URI:
<https://gitorious.org/guile-figl/guile-figl/archive-tarball/master>

Or view the most recent commits to see just the changes:
<http://gitorious.org/guile-figl/guile-figl/commits>

Any Figl files now without copyright notice are considered trivial (such as guile.am).

Regards

Hi,

thanks for submitting your project to Savannah!  I'm sorry about the delay.  I couldn't find time to start evaluation until now.  I'm finished now and found the following issues:

Not all copyrightable files contain copyright and license notices.  For example the Makefile.am and configure.ac files need one, as well as the example files.  Please add the copyright and license notices where they are missing.  Copyrightable are all non-trivial files longer than 10 lines.

This is also true for the documentation.  I see that you included the GPL notice in figl.texi.  That's alright but you must include a copy of the license in the documentation as well.  For example, some projects create a gpl.texi file (or whatever the license is called) with the license text and include it in a chapter named after the license.

Please update your files and upload a new tarball on the bottom of the task page.

Best regards!

Registration Details

  • Name: Figl
  • System Name:  guile-figl
  • Type: Official GNU software
  • License: GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPLv3+)

Description:

Figl is a binding of the OpenGL graphics API for the GNU Guile programming environment.

The "F" in Figl is for "foreign", as Figl is built with Guile's dynamic foreign function interface, without writing any C at all.  This approach is particularly appropriate for binding OpenGL, as typical OpenGL implementations support different base versions, then add a bunch of extensions on top.  Using the FFI lets Figl provide interfaces from later versions, but without requiring those versions and extensions.

Figl binds all of OpenGL with a low-level binding.  It also attempts to provide a more Scheme-friendly layer on top.  All of its interfaces are fully documented.

Other Software Required:

Guile: http://www.gnu.org/software/guile/

Other Comments:

The binding is generated from upstream documentation and specifications.  These documents and specifications are under a LGPL-compatible license; the copyright statement is included in full in those files that include derived work.
