No, the email is wrong. The url is http://www.gnu.org/software/consensus.  The standard url for GNU package foo is http://www.gnu.org/software/foo.  That is where the "webpages CVS repository" that is part of the savannah project will link to.

If you want to use www.gnu.org/consensus instead, you will need commit access to the www project (ask -email is unavailable- if you don't already have it), or ask the sysadmins to set up a redirect (i strongly discourage that).  There's no feasible way to make the "webpages repository" for consensus go anywhere except the standard /software/consensus location.

We haven't used gnu.org/projects in a very long time.  There's no need to do anything about it.  (I'll see if I can figure out where that email is coming from and update it.)

Best,
Karl

w00t!

Hmm, I received an email from root saying:

Project Full Name:   GNU/consensus
Project System Name: consensus
Project page:        /projects/consensus

So I understand that the URL will be http://gnu.org/projects/consensus.

But as:
1) I want gnu.org/consensus
2) gnu.org/projects is broken

I understand that I need to put myself a pair of tasks on the www project to:

1) add an entry in .symlinks
2) make a projects/projects.html page

Is that correct? ;o)

Hi Aljosha - the confusion is understandable, and Savannah didn't see all the background (you can be thankful :), but as Hellekin says, this is a renaming of something rms already approved.

So I approved the submission.  Hellekin, the cron jobs should get everything going in an hour (at most).

Best,
Karl

Hi Aljosha,

the project is already approved. Actually it was approved back in October, but we had a name clash with GNU social, and we decided to use GNU consensus instead.

Obviously you replied on the mailing list. In future please reply on the task page, which is linked on the bottom of the notification email.

Back to the task: I can change the group type of your project to "Official GNU software". You will when have to follow the instructions on https://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation.html in order to become official GNU software.

Just in case it's not approved you should tell me on this task page, so that the project can be deleted (once a project is set up the group type can't be changed).

What do you think?

Hi hellekin,

have you thought about starting a LibrePlanet interest group for this? It may be more appropriate for what you want. You and your group could still use a Savannah project for file hosting, as suggested on the LibrePlanet wiki [0]. If you are interested take a look at [1].
