Dear Sir or Madam,
I am trying to install MAXIMA on my MacOSX 10.3.9 iBook G4.
According to the documentation I found on the web,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
GCL is the official Common Lisp for the GNU project. Its design makes use of the system's C compiler to compile to native object code, providing for both good performance and facile portability. GCL currently compiles itself and the primary free software Lisp applications, Maxima , ACL2 and Axiom, on eleven GNU/Linux architectures (x86 powerpc s390 sparc arm alpha ia64 hppa m68k mips mipsel), Windows, Sparc Solaris, and FreeBSD.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I downloaded gcl-2.6.6 and followed the instructions in "readme".
However I receive several error messages. One is related to X,
which I use regularly (although it is called X11 or xterm), but
there are other errors too (perhaps because the configuration was unsuccessful).
I am appending the fatal error(s) below. I would be grateful for
any help in properly installing GCL and/or MAXIMA (or the URL of any MacOSX
binaries that may be available).
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Oliver Clay
