It's okay for the other lists, it is just swarm-directors that is funky.  Right now it is set to private, but there are just a few messages in the archive, only the recent ones from when I created the list.  However, if I switch to public archive, then the archives show all the history that was moved over, so somehow the two are mixed up.

Hi Scott - I think it is already set up that way, since you made the archiving private when you created the list.  I unpacked all the mboxes in the private subdir, since that's the standard mailman setup.  (All mbox files in private, with symlinks from public when the lists are public.)

Let me know if problems.  Happy swarming,
karl

Hi Karl,

Everything looks great.  Only one thing I forgot to mention is that the archive for swarm-directors lists should be private.  If you could move the mbox from public to private that would be great.

thanks
Scott

All mboxes imported.  Sorry for the delay.  A few messages could not be parsed properly so were inserted with the current date, but almost all seemed to go fine.  Hope it's ok.

Best,
Karl

Hi Scott - can you put them on the web somewhere and I will grab them that way?  Just email me (karl@gnu.org) with the url.  Or I can give you an alternative way to upload if need be.

best,
karl

Actually it seems that the mbox files are too big to attach to this support message.  The tgz file of all the mbox files is 45Mb, what is the best way to send to you?

Scott

Hello Karl or other awesomely GNU admin,

I've got the mailing list archives!  I created the mailing lists for the Swarm project, there are 11 mailing lists total:

swarm-announce
swarm-directors
swarm-gis
swarm-modeling
swarm-support
swarm-swarmfest2004
swarm-swarmfest2005
swarm-swarmfest2006
swarm-swarmfest2007
swarm-swarmfest2008
swarm-swarmfest2009

I'm attaching files which contains the mbox files from mailman, please place them in the archives for the lists.

The swarm-directors list may have some messages in it already, those are just testing messages so no problem if they are deleted.

thanks!
Scott

Thanks Karl.  I will coordinate with the developer and start the transition.

Hi Scott - sure, we can import the archives.  What's needed is the .mbox files saved by mailman.  Best way to send them is to make a .tar.gz or .zip or whatever, to avoid encoding errors or other garbling.  One for all of them is fine, or whatever is reasonable in terms of size.  You can attach it/them to this form, or send them to savannah-hackers-private@gnu.org, whatever works.

Best,
Karl

We have used Savannah to host our project (Swarm) for quite some time, but we've been using one of the developer's machines to host some of the mailing lists.  We would like to move these mailing lists to Savannah.  Creating the lists is not a problem, but would it be possible to import the archives as well so that they don't get lost?  Mailman is being used by the developer, so I'm hoping the archives are in the same format and can be easily copied.
