Thanks.  Closing.

If you wish to turn on patch commit emails at any point please let us know.  I have been turning on git patch commit emails for projects and it is now a documented process.

I am reviewing some of the aging bugs that are still open and this is one of them.

Is there something to be done with this ticket?  Or should it be closed since it is now years later and if there was something to be done someone would have complained about it already? :-)

Here's what comes to mind:

1) having an independent record of the commits seems like it can only help in the event of repository corruption, etc.

2) for some of us, perusing mailing list archives is much easier, faster, and more familiar than anything having to do with git.

3) mailing list archives are vc-agnostic.  It is not uncommon for projects to switch vcs as years (and maintainers) go by ...

Best,
karl

Yes -- it wouldn't hurt to archive the patch-commit list, but the git web interface should give the same information, and is even more flexible. Am I overlooking something?

I'll report if/when I see the problem again.

Yes, the problem started with git; there was no such mailing list before.

Hi Andreas -- did you intentionally turn off archives for patch-commit?  It seems backwards to me; surely having the archive of commits is one of the most useful things.

Anyway, since I can't see anything recent, is this still happening since the switch to git?  Sorry for the lack of response.

The commit messages to -email is unavailable- contain a summary of which commits have changed, followed by a detailed log:

"Those revisions listed above that are new to this repository have not appeared on any other notification email; so we list those revisions in full, below.

- Log --------------------------------------------
[...]
- Log --------------------------------------------"

Strangely enough, the detailed log does not list all revisions; in some cases, it lists none, or only the first one.  Could this please be fixed?

Thanks!
