Thanks for your report!  git master, hopefully the next release, has one instruction support for these libm functions builtin.  The lisp versions call same.

Some classic operation are implemented in libc (asin,acos...).
You can, may be test, for bound and use C when you can.

On large array the factor between gcl and cmucl is about 12!!!
