Tom said that he got a similar bounce message to the one I did.
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2011-02/msg00663.html

I will follow up with sysadmins on [gnu.org #662798].

commits are still going missing from the diff list. The latest example:

revno: 103273
committer: Tom Tromey <tromey at redhat.com>
branch nick: trunk
timestamp: Mon 2011-02-14 08:39:19 -0700
message:
  Hide implementation of `struct buffer'

Again, the neighbouring commits (one of which was by the same author) appeared:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2011-02/msg00239.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2011-02/msg00240.html

Again, this would probably be a somewhat large diff.
I don't know if the author got any kind of bounce.

sysadmins say savannah mail should no longer have a size limit.

Hi Glenn --

Indeed, there has been a longstanding problem with "too large" of messages being rejected by the smtp server.  I thought the sysadmins had put an exception in place long ago so that mail from savannah can be any size, but apparently not.  I'll write to them now and cc you.

I just checked, and the mailman setup of the emacs-diffs list imposes no limit, so that's not the issue.  (The bounce would look different, too, as you know.)

Indeed, that happened in http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2010-07/msg00193.html is that the diff generator running on savannah decided the diff was too large to send.  I don't know where or how to control that, but presumably we (Sylvain) can if we want to go that way.  So your hypothesis is basically correct :(.

Possibly related:

I just got a mail delivery failure from emacs-diffs in response
to an automated commit (r102979) email that Savannah sent out on my behalf.

It's not clear to me if the message was rejected for being too large. This might explain it, if the emacs-diffs list and the thing that sends out Savannah diff mails had different ideas of what "too large" means. But it looks like the message just failed, permanently and quickly (within an hour?).

Again, the neighbouring commits reached the list ok:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2011-01/msg00324.html
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2011-01/msg00323.html

(Re-submitting sr #107469; sorry Gnash!)

The emacs-diffs mailing list is supposed to receive diffs of commits to the trunk and emacs-23 branch.

For some reason, commit emacs-23 revno 100005 never appeared
on the mailing list:

committer: Michael Albinus <michael.albinus at gmx.de>
branch nick: emacs-23
timestamp: Thu 2010-08-26 21:23:02 +0200

The neighbouring commits did:

revno 100006:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2010-08/msg00293.html

revno 100004:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2010-08/msg00291.html

It was a fairly large commit, but even if it was above the size limit, there is normally a notice of the commit, eg

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2010-07/msg00193.html
