It works, just with a little delay :)
Thank you!  This is exactly what we needed.

Hi Bob, neverwas.

I see crierc in the #poke channel at libera.  But I just pushed a change to poke.git (master branch) and it remained silent...

I chatted with neverwas who is running crierc for the Emacs folks and now crierc has joined #poke and is forwarding diff summaries from the cgit/atom feed.  All thanks for this go to neverwas for the work and for maintaining crierc.

Please let us know what you think of it.

Hi Bob.
That would be awesome :)  Thank you very much for looking at this!

Sorry.  This ticket for me was an out of sight and out of mind thing.  Good ping.

However looking at it very briefly I see that it runs as a continuously running daemon in order to maintain persistent connection to IRC (to avoid creating join/part noise).  Which means it would need some work forever to maintain the IRC account logins and the running daemon and such.

I know that the Emacs group already has something that does this running.  It might already be the same irker daemon or it might be something different.  But it probably would make more sense to understand what they have already running now and see if it can be expanded to poke.

I'll ask the Emacs folks.

Hello savannah hackers!

irker (http://www.catb.org/esr/irker) is a daemon that sends commit notifications to IRC channels.  We would like to use it for notifying commits/pushes to poke.git.

Would it be possible to install irkerd in savannah and add a post-update hook to the poke.git repo so it sends notifications to the #poke channel in irc.freenode.net?

TIA!
