hi simon - i split the filtered mbox as you requested for bug and users, and created

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnucobol/
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gnucobol-users/
(among other corresponding files)

sorry for the delay. just let us know if problems.

p.s. for the record, i used
grepmail -i -Y Subject '(\bbug|fail)' open-cobol-list.mbox
to do the splitting. without the \b, also matched "debugging" in subject header, which seemed better in the users list.
without using -Y (if just '^Subject:.* ...'), the keywords wouldn't match in the second line of a continued Subject: header. this happened :).

Honestly I hadn't started it yet. But with your nudge I worked through it tonight. It was in pretty good shape. But there were a handful of unescaped "^From " lines and a few spams. I am sure I missed a few but I think it is ready to go.

I will pass it off to Karl to import.

i created the gnucobol-users list by hand, no problem.

(savannah people, for the record: on lists, just ran ./mycreate_list.pl -email is unavailable- simonsobisch@... )

Thank you for taking care.

I've uploaded the mbox file and sent the link to Bob.

Hm, the list really doesn't exists but it is shown at Savannah:
https://savannah.gnu.org/mail/?group=gnucobol

Any idea what to do? Wait another day, delete and create again, ???

Simon

hi simon. first, there is no list gnucobol-users on lists.gnu.org right now, though there is gnucobol-messages (empty), and gnucobol-dev (almost empty). ?

as for the import, bob and i think the best approach would be for you to send the mbox to him (bob at proulx dot com), he will filter it, and then i will do the import. it shouldn't take long. to minimize the time taken, thursday would be the best day for me, if that works for both of you.

best,
karl

As part of the (slow) move from SourceForge I'd like to move the mailing list to savannah before the next release.

These are the parts that need to be done:

  • spam-filtering (Bob Proulx <rwp> volunteered for this before)
  • moving all messages with "bug" or "fail" in the title (case-insensitive) to the list bug-gnucobol (containing only one conversation)
  • moving the rest to the list "gnucobol-users"

I can provide the mbox file but would like to know whom to send it and how long the process needs (because of closing the old list).
