Hi

Many thanks for the swift response.

I can confirm that i have found the environmental issue that was the cause of our discrepancies. There was already a very old version of Open Cobol on the system and this was causing conflicts.

I have cleaned the system of the old version and the discrepancies no longer exist.

Apologies for raising a call over a non issue.

Paul.

I have installed GNUCobol2.0 on two platforms in an identical fashion, RHEL6.8 and RHEL5.6.

On the RHEL6 install i can successfully compile and execute a test module without any resulting warnings or errors.

On the RHEL5 install the exact same module will compile but on execution the following warning is given.

Warning: 'SYMBOLIC CHARACTERS' not implemented

I am therefore concerned about the consistency of the installation stability and need to understand why this issue only occurs on the one platform given two identical installations of the software.

Im investigating this technology for a wider purpose and discrepancies such as this cannot therefore be overlooked.

Could someone advise what would cause such warning to be delivered on execution.

Regards.

Paul.
