I think I have the tar file you provided unpacked, permissions set, files unlocked, and so on, all installed and ready to go.  I checked this by checking out a copy here.  All looks good to go.

Please check out your project and let us know that things are working okay for you.

And if you have any problems please let us know so that we can help.  For general discussion I recommend either the savannah-users mailing list (Savannah users discussion) or the savannah-help-public mailing list which is specifically for Savannah support.

There is a misunderstanding. General ssh access is not provided. Instead you access your cvs repository using cvs commands. The cvs commands use ssh transport protocol. You won't be able to ssh into the system but you will be able to cvs commit to and from it.  The instructions for this are in the link Assaf provided.

https://savannah.nongnu.org/cvs/?group=graphsampler

Specifically something like this:

cvs -z3 -d:ext:yoursavannahusernamehere@cvs.savannah.nongnu.org:/sources/graphsampler checkout graphsampler

However it looks like there was a problem unpacking the tar file that you provided.  It wasn't installed.  Please give us a short while to figure that out and get back to you.  Otherwise all that you will see when you check out your project is an empty repository.

Hello Assaf,

I get "Interactive shell login is not possible for security reasons" when I try to ssh in cvs.savannah.nongnu.org

If I try to give the command vserver vcs-noshell enter on the ssh line I get "You tried to execute: vserver vcs-noshell enter
Sorry, you are not allowed to execute that command".

It looks like I don't have the necessary permissions.

Best regards

Frederic

Hello Frederic,

You should be able to push the source code to the 'graph_sampler' CVS repository using your SSH access (user -email is unavailable- ) , based on the instructions here:
    https://savannah.nongnu.org/cvs/?group=graphsampler

Please let us know if this method does not work and we'll investigate other ways.

regards,

Hi Assaf,

Yes, I have an existing CVS repository for graph_sampler on my local computer and I would like to push it into Savannah non-gnu.
I don't particularly want to switch to git. CVS has done the job for me quite well so far.
I attach a tar.gz of the graph_sampler directory in my CVSROOT directory. It should have everything. Do you need something else?

Best regards

Frederic

Hello,

To verify:
You have an existing CVS repository hosted elsewhere (or on your local computer?) and you are interested in pushing it into Savannah ?

If you wish to keep using CVS,
The instructions on how to commit CVS are here:
   https://savannah.nongnu.org/cvs/?group=graphsampler
(look in the section titled "Project Member CVS Access via SSH").

For more general instructions on CVS, see:
   http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/CvsGettingStarted/

Alternatively, if you wish to switch your existing CVS repository into GIT, instructions on import CVS into GIT in Savannah are here:
  http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/UsingGit/
(look in the section titled "Importing from CVS").
Others have reported success when using this tool:
  http://www.catb.org/esr/cvs-fast-export/

Regards,
 - assaf
