missing verbatim end-marker still problematic. i'll ask sergey at some point.

anyway, i'll commit the changes to git later today or tomorrow, and update the other tickets. right now they're running uncommitted.

if some emergency happens when i'm offline, can just git reset --hard origin in frontend:/usr/src/savane. The original (pre-patch) files are also saved in ~karl/svbackup.tgz.

that email came through correctly. it even looks ok in the archive:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/savannah-hackers/2016-05/msg00112.html

here i'll test again starting a verbatim block without ending:

verb block with wrong end marker (missing -)
-verbatim

patch installed. here is the comment again:

amp: &
gt: >
#22: "

and some individual characters:

backslash: \
ampersand: &
less than: <

and the verbatim again (the last comment shows another bug, that a missing end-verbatim tag just means the entire block disappears; sigh).

in verbatim: backslash: \
in verbatim: backslash-x: \x

maybe this time ...

Ok, the comment shows the problem. Also, since backslashes in verbatim markup are mentioned, here is that case:

in verbatim: backslash: \
in verbatim: backslash-x: \x
-verbatim

my new hope is to try the patch in about 22 hours, i.e., early tomorrow afternoon US/Pacific time. I have made no changes on the server as yet.

hmm, all that worked ok both online and in the email. here it is again this time as a comment, since that's what https://savannah.gnu.org/support/?108433 talks about:

some entities:

amp: &
gt: >
#22: "

and some individual characters:

backslash: \
ampersand: &
less than: <

test bug, planning to try applying sergey's patch (as adjusted by assaf) in a few minutes. here are some entities:

amp: &
gt: >
#22: "

and some individual characters:

backslash: \
ampersand: &
less than: <
at sign: @

we'll see ...
