Hello,

Sorry for the long delay.
The repositories have been created.

They can be accessed like so:

Anonymous git access:
  git clone git://git.sv.gnu.org/gnustep/gnustep-steptalk.git

Read/Write Access:
  git clone <user>@git.sv.gnu.org:/srv/git/gnustep/gnustep-steptalk.git

Web Access:
  http://git.sv.gnu.org/cgit/gnustep/gnustep-steptalk.git
  http://git.sv.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=gnustep/gnustep-steptalk.git

Greg - there have been endless discussions about what Savannah "should" do, but no one wants to make the (massive) long-time commitment to changing it and maintaining the new facility.

It's not magically going to change and be maintained.  The few (basically three, all extremely part-time) of us currently working on it are not going to make radical changes.  Either someone else takes over or it basically continues as is.  That's the reality.

If GNUstep, or anything else, decides to use a different hosting service, that is understandable. -k

Karl,

With respect, I'm thinking it's time to rethink Savannah as a whole.   If you guys could move to something else that would require less intervention from the operators it would be best.   This is the whole reason why the idea of moving to another repo hosting service has been hotly debated in the GNUstep community as of late.

Savannah, at it's inception, was a great idea... but that was many years ago now and many more things are expected of a hosting service by developes at this point.  I would love to help in any decision along those lines or even help the savannah hackers in any way I can.  My limitation is time.  So long as that's understood I would not mind helping them out.

Gregory - as you have no doubt surmised, Savannah needs more active and capable volunteers.  Only a couple people (not me) are up for creating git repos like you want, and evidently they are busy with other things (e.g., Assaf, who first answered you here, just got married ...)). So I don't know what to tell you.
I saw you are considering other hosting sites now.  I don't blame you.

Of course, it would be best if git repos could be managed by project admins themselves.  That would require a different sort of job to be done by Savannah workers, even less likely to come to fruition, I'm afraid.

Sorry,
Karl

Hello,

Please let us know which repository names you'd like and we'll create them.

They will appear under the gnustep repository, like so:

  git://git.savannah.gnu.org/gnustep/foo.git
  git://git.savannah.gnu.org/gnustep/bar.git

and will have the same access permissions as gnustep.

regards,

Please change the configuration of the GNUstep project's git repo to handle multiple git repositories.   This will allow us to better manage releases of the various components of the project.

Thanks, GC

P.S. I had thought i submitted a similar ticket previously.
