Backports has Bazaar 2.0.2 now:

  http://www.backports.org/debian/pool/main/b/bzr/

Bazaar developers recommend upgrading to that.  The loggerhead we're running should already be compatible, according to the developers I talked to (maybe it would help us with sr #107142, too).

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2009-12/msg00268.html indicates that an upgrade to 2.0.2 for fencepost is already planned.  Can we also upgrade savannah?

(That message refers to gnu.org RT #516912, but I'm not sure how to get web access to that ticket or even what its full URL is.)

I don't see it yet. Possibly it's in the buildd queue and will be built within day.

It's in backports now.  (You may even have already installed it, I don't know...)

Yes, as far as I could see things were already moving forward and the only thing to do was wait for a week or two.

I talked to two of the bzr backports packagers today, Wouter van Heyst and Jelmer Vernooij, and they will get Bazaar 1.17 into backports.org for Debian stable.  Looks like they can probably do it tomorrow, (2009-08-05); I'll check in with them then.

"Stable" is what we need, right?

(For Daniel: the prior discussion Sylvan was referring to is in sr #106612.)

Could you summarize it? I suppose that you are waiting for backports.org to package bzr 1.17 for Debian stable.
How long will it take? Is help needed?

So if 1.17 is not installed; this bug should be still open.

Hi,

> Would it be possible to upgrade bzr.sv.gnu.org to Bazaar 1.17

There was a misconfiguration in backports.org tracking, and we stalled on 1.13 while 1.16 was out. I upgraded to 1.16. For the 1.17 upgrade I refer you to our last e-mail discussion about packaged version tracking - i.e. wait :)

Yes.

Would it be possible to upgrade bzr.sv.gnu.org to Bazaar 1.17 in order to support Bazaar's "2a" repository format for the Emacs migration?

I didn't see any way to determine the version of Bazaar currently on bzr.sv.gnu.org, but I'm assuming it's not up to 1.17 yet, as 1.17 was only recently released.  Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Bazaar and Loggerhead notes:

Is Bazaar's web-viewer Loggerhead is already at 1.10 on savannah?  That's the latest version, and AFAIK it is compatible with Bazaar 1.17.

It's not quite clear how supported Loggerhead is on savannah.  If you go to

  http://bzr.savannah.gnu.org/

the page says:

  "Test
Web viewer (coming when there's a stable one)
     direct browsing"

(where "direct browsing" is a link to http://bzr.savannah.gnu.org/r/, which is just raw HTTP service, not loggerhead.)  On the other hand, going to

  http://bzr.savannah.gnu.org/lh/

works, and shows a list of projects that can be browsed with loggerhead.  (But the version of loggerhead itself cannot be determined from its pages.)
