Any news here? I just added a comment to my submission and found this support entry after that. Must have missed reading it.

I would also like to use Savannah, because I think Sourceforge is too fat for me as small project, BerliOS seems to be nearly dead and others (like Tigris) do not fit in my needs.

To quote Eddie:
"I certainly appreciate what is being done here and the volunteers that make it possible. I will hold out as long as I can. Thanks."

I can't speak for others, but the principles of gnu and free software are certainly the primary motivating factors (except for the perceived anti-c++ attitude it sometimes has) for going with Savannah. When sourceforge made their change I vowed to not lock any more projects in with them for any reason. Unfortunately, deadlines placed by outside factors are making the transition difficult.

I certainly appreciate what is being done here and the volunteers that make it possible. I will hold out as long as I can. Thanks.

We are well aware about the backlog, and nobody would deny it's a serious problem.  Currently we are discussing a new process which would enable us to avoid this situation in the future.

However, please understand that project reviews, as well as maintaining Savannah as a whole, are done by volunteers -- there are only a few, and their time is limited.

Our hope is that people will choose Savannah because of the freedom (see for example <http://www.fsf.org/blogs/community/savannah>); support is excellent in many areas in Savannah, but is currently a bit lacking for this particular important part.

I'll try to figure out which projects you submitted and process them first.

Thanks for your patience.

I'm having similar thoughts. I have many people waiting for my project to be available and I'm not sure they can wait a month. I really didn't want to use sourceforge instead of savannah but it looks like I may not have a choice. It is a shame really. I haven't waited nearly as long as you Andrew and I'm already getting anxious looking at that list.

There seems to be a large backlog of submitted projects waiting for approval, currently numbering about 100 (Including one of my own projects). Some tasks do seem to have progress happening, i.e. there are discussions on them, however a large number of submissions are long past the date they should have been finished on, and have not had any progress (Status='none', not assigned to anyone, no comments etc.). This means quite a number of people's projects have been stalled. This is quite important as it is likely to cause people to turn away from savannah. (I myself am now contemplating using Sourceforge, since I cannot make use of savannah...)
