TeX for the Impatient - Summary
This project is part of the GNU Project.
TeX for the Impatient is looking for a maintainer.
If you're interested, please take a look at this general information about GNU
packages and being a GNU maintainer, and then email
-unavailable- with a bit about your background and particular
interest in this package. Thanks.
TeX for the Impatient is a ~350 page book on TeX, plain TeX, and Eplain, written by Paul Abrahams, Kathryn Hargreaves, and Karl Berry.
Besides the source repository here, ftp://tug.org/tex/impatient/ has the released version and more.
It is also available from CTAN, http://www.ctan.org/pkg/impatient.
The authors have no plans to update the book, though we will help however we can. If you are interested in working on the many possible enhancements and improvements, see the README and errata.future files in CVS.

The original artwork by Kathryn Hargreaves included in the printed book of TeX for the Impatient is now available in the CVS repository (under the same license as the book itself, GFDLv1.2-or-later). Thanks to William Adams for doing the scanning.
Updates to the book source to incorporate these images would be very welcome.

The French translation of TFTI has been updated -- thanks again, Marc. It will be distributed on this year's TeX Live. It's currently available through savannah, CTAN, and tug.org.
