GNU Accounting Utils - Summary
This project is part of the GNU Project.
This is a set of utilities which reports and summarizes data about
user connect times and process execution statistics under GNU/Linux.
This package contains:
last: show records or user login information
ac: summarize login accounting
accton: turn accounting on or off
lastcomm: show records of command execution information
sa: summarizes process accounting
dump-utmp: print a utmp file in a human-readble format
dump-acct: same as above for acct/pacct files
This package requires kernel level support. In Linux you must select the "BSD-style process accounting" option during compilation.

GNU acct 6.4 will feature Linux multiformat support, an up-to-date build system, and some small bug fixes.
I've prepared a prerelease that you can download from http://www.physik3.uni-rostock.de/tim/kernel/utils/acct/acct-6.4-pre1.tar.gz . Please test it!

OK, it seems like I cannot hold my original promise to work on a release in the near future. So I just decided to submit my patchset to the patch manager on savannah. It is what forms my version 6.3.5-ts02-11 with Linux multiformat support.

Original plan was a simple clean up operation and a quick release. This has turned into extensive clean ups (recoding parts) and will produce a longer release process.
