Update Jule 29th: Still up to date.

Update June 10th: GNu gv 3.7.1 has been published. Please use this new release for translating. There a no new strings since 3.6.8.90.

GNU gv used to have only an english user interface. Starting with version 3.6.9 there is UTF-8 support available. This is a precondition to translate GNU gv, as several languages need characters that are not 7-bit-ASCII.

I have prepared the development version of GNU gv to be translated and have published the alpha version 3.6.91. Your job would be to translate this alpha version (the user messages will not change from that point to the final version).

The translation have to be done in the following way:

1. Start with en ampty translation file (i- e. one with length 0).
2. Call "gv-update-userconfig -i <filenameOfTranslationFile>" which will  update your translatuion file with new untranslate messages.
3. Replace the Right-Hand-Side of each Resource by your translation. All new mesages are at the end of your file. These line look like the following:
          GV*copyright.Label:                     Copyright
          GV*optionsgv.Label:                     gv Options ...
          GV*mark.Label:                          Mark
          GV*dismiss.Label:                       Dismiss

4. Submit the translation file via subversion and you are done.

5. If a new version of GNU gv containg new strings is released, go on with point 2 (using the gv-update-userinfo being shipped with the new GNU gv release).

Of cause you must speak the language you want GNU gv translate into. You should be able to install GNU gv from the published source code tarballs.

Please contact me, Markus Steinborn <gnugv_maintainer@yahoo.de> if you want to contribute to GNU gv as a translator. Please include the language together with the name of the locales commonly used for this language in that e-mail.

Note: There is already an incomplete japanese and an incomplete korean translation, so these languages only have to be completed.

In order to test the I18N-features of GNU gv, I am doing the german translation myself, so no translator is needed for the german trannslation. Feel free to report bugs in the german translation - either in English or in German.
