This small patch is a try to make the behavior of the TeXmacs selection handling more similar to the standard known from modern editors:

  • Moving the cursor in any way cancels the selection
  • [Del] and [Backspace] kill the selection without touching the clipboard content

Still missing (probably has to be done deeper in the source):

  • inserting any kind of text with an active selection should replace the selected text.

Currently, the behavior is not configurable, which will annoy any Emacs-user working in Emacs mode! I don't know how this configurability would have to be implemented.
