We have started work on developing a GNOME front-end for the songanizer script. Interested GUI developers may contact.
"That's cool!"
Mark Shuttleworth on GNU Songanizer at Techfest '06 organized by IIT, Bombay.
The GNU Songanizer project now has a new home at http://www.gnu.org/software/songanizer/. This will be the home page for the project from now on, and all information rgarding GNU Songanizer would be available there. However certain aspects of the project, eg., the CVS tree, would continue to reside in Savannah. Visitors to GNU Songanizer home page would thus be re-directed to the Savannah project page in such cases.
The Savannah project page would cotinue to focus on the development of the project.
Thanks to Arjun and Rakesh, an hour back another anomaly was detected in the songanizer script. The find utility does not follow symlinks unless the -follow flag is set. Now thats a problem that was not taken care till now!
I would refrain from posting a patch to this, since that would only take away the negligible amount of time I have to prepare the next release. Till then, which I promise would not be long, please avoid using symlinks or, if you possibly can, add the -follow flag to the lines where the variable datacontent is being given a value. There are only 2 such lines.
Please not that irrespective of the patches available till now, version 1.0 will be the one to look out for!
The day before yesterday, I detected a bug in version 0.8. It arises from the mv command's inability to overwrite the older tag directories present in the BASE directory as remnants of a previous songanizing effort. The bug was fixed a few hours back.
Users of version 0.8 should either use the patch, or wait for version 1.0.
On December 2, 2005, songanizer was approved by Richard M. Stallman as an official GNU project. The project shall henceforth be known as GNU Songanizer.
