LibreJS: Join the early testers!

Item posted by Jason Self <jxself> on Mon 21 Nov 2011 11:05:11 PM UTC.

LibreJS is an add-on in development for GNU IceCat that detects and blocks nonfree nontrivial JavaScript while allowing scripts that are free and/or trivial.

The web is a very big place and it is hard to test every single page. We all browse different sites, often written in different languages, and it is critical to get as many testers as possible early on so that we can take into account all odd cases that might arise from a particular site, webpage, or character encoding. We are currently hunting for bugs while browsing the web using the add-on. Please consider testing LibreJS when browsing the web!

For more information regarding this add-on, please read: http://lduros.net/assets/librejs/download/README.md

To install the early test release of the add-on, go to the following url using IceCat or a Firefox browser: http://lduros.net/assets/librejs/download/librejs-latest.xpi

A git repository is available at: https://gitorious.org/librejs/

Read "The JavaScript Trap" for more information about the issue that this extension tries to address: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/javascript-trap.html
