New git browser: cgit

Item posted by Sylvain Beucler <Beuc> on Tue Jan 6 20:22:33 2009.

We installed a new git repository browser at:
http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/

It's written in C, uses a static library rather than forking git, has a cache system, and hence is pretty fast!

Let us know how it works for you.

Tarball download (posted by Andreas Gruenbacher, Thu Mar 12 15:30:34 2009)

I consider the tarball download feature rather useful. The file names of those tarballs are less useful, though: nothing indicates that those are snapshots rather than official releases (which, unlike snapshots, would include generated files like ./configure).

So could the snapshot file names please be changed?

There's no RSS feed (posted by John Darrington, Wed Jan 21 03:25:44 2009)

It would be nice if there was a RSS feed like on the old interface.

Looks good (posted by Mike Swanson, Mon Jan 12 03:22:24 2009)

Seems like it doesn't handle binary diffs well, see for example: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=freedoom.git;a=commitdiff;h=a9208dc1c99dede9e7327f563d0f63730d9770f6;hp=2d418d78c3ab2970070a3c9b345890e54bd4d2b3
versus: http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/freedoom.git/diff/?id=a9208dc1c99dede9e7327f563d0f63730d9770f6&id2=2d418d78c3ab2970070a3c9b345890e54bd4d2b3

Other than that, it's great
