Mailman web interface temporarily down

Item posted by Sylvain Beucler <Beuc> on Thu May 5 07:36:50 2005.

To allow the mail server to recover the e-mail backlog (due to the last week-end downtime) asap, the FSF sysadmins decided to turn the HTTP server down, which includes access to the Mailman administration. It was first stated at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/message.php?msg_id=414

Unfortunately we have not ETA yet - it apparently takes more time than expected.

However, Mailman was designed without HTTP interface in the first place, so you still can administer your mailing lists using the e-mail interface.

A good starting point to learn is http://www.list.org/mailman-member/node10.html. There are also hints in the e-mails Mailman send to the list admins.

lists.[non]gnu.org is running Apache again :)

Personal ETA (posted by Sylvain Beucler, Thu May 5 07:45:36 2005)

It is my guess that the outage shouldn't last more than a few days. The machine load was 14 on monday, it is now 7, things are getting better.

Unfortunately the Savannah hackers do not have full privileges on lists.gnu.org so I cannot be more precise (like studying the number of mails in the backlog) :/
