0.9.16RC1 has hit the streets

Item posted by Dave Hall <skwashd> on Tue 09 Sep 2003 11:27:08 PM UTC.

The much awaited 0.9.16 Release Cantidate 1 version phpGroupWare is now available for testing.

You can grab it from cvs and or download it from (update instructions at bottom of annoucement). Please note that rpms and debs will be made available only once the final stable version is released.

We have included many new goodies for you.

The idots template set is now fully implemented and supported.

A completely revamped contacts backend. It is now possible to store just about any type of information regarding a contact. There is a seperation of organisation and person contacts, with the ability to link the two, or even linking organisations to each other. This will also be foundation of the new messaging api planned for the next major release, later this year. We have also improved the linking of data in the contacts store and other applications.

wiki - web based group creation/editing of formatted documents with revision control
(if you've ever used a wiki, you love it)

knowledgebase - create and make available how-tos, FAQ, manuals, guides, etc and
allow users to comment on them

javassh - log into your remote computer and get shell access from within phpgroupware

email - now includes a search tool and some new icon sets

Most applications have additional features added, too many to list here.

NOTE: This is a release candidate and not a final release and should not be used in a production environment. Due to the large quantity of new code, we are expecting bug reports. We plan to deal with all bug reports immediately. New users should use the 0.9.14 version also available from the web site. Don't forget to backup your data before you upgrade. Also the version will be displayed as until the final version is released.

Download - grab it from
CVS (update) - cvs -z6 update -rVersion-0_9_16-branch -dP
CVS (new)
cd /path/to/webroot
cvs co -r Version-0_9_16-branch release

Please thanks goes out to the Step One Group Crew who put in 110% to get the contacts backend finished in time.
