![]() I am a student in computer science and engineering from Luleå University of Technology, and I am currently doing my masters thesis project at the Computer and Network Architechtures (CNA) lab at SICS. My masters thesis concerns minimal TCP/IP implementations with proxy support. The basic idea is that small devices, such as sensors for measuring, that usually has very limited resources in terms of memory and CPU and may not be able to carry a full TCP/IP implementation, is supported by a proxy that implements those parts of the TCP/IP stack that the device cannot afford. The thesis involves
The TCP/IP stack should run on a 8MHz Mitsubischi M16 CPU with < 20k RAM, < 256k ROM, while the proxy runs as a user process under FreeBSD. The official title of the thesis is "Minimal TCP/IP implementation with proxy support" and this is the masters thesis proposal. My supervisor is Bengt Ahlgren. In the Arena project in Luleå ice-hockey players will be equipped with sensors and a camera. Those sensors will run my TCP/IP stack. For those that are interested in the development of the thesis a preliminary version of the thesis is avaliable here. This is very incomplete and may contain numerous errors.
