==================== Fillets continuation ==================== In IV02 conference, we published the article: Tuomas J. Lukka and Janne V. Kujala and Marketta Niemelä, "Fillets: Cues for Connections in Focus+Context Views of Graph-like Diagrams". We should continue the work and publish a more "final" paper in a journal. One approach would be to generalize to Gestalt principles in user interfaces, which could also include nadir rotations, buoy geometry, and torn vieports. ISSUES ====== - What type/which journal should we submit to? - Should we drop the implementation section? - Should we use the Gestalt approach? - Should we include nadir rotations? - Should we include buoy geometry? - Should we include torn viewports? - Should we conduct more fillets experiments? Article plan ============ - Gestalt principles - Fillets - description and experiment from the IV02 article - Nadir - experiment showing that - rotated objects are easier to perceive - nadir rotations better than e.g. random or "radial" directions: (could be observable in reading speed; nadir rotations have small, continuous changes in the rotation angle)
