Sun 25 Jan 2004 10:04:26 PM UTC, original submission:

The configure script errouneously reports that I don't have GNU diff. 10.2 ships with GNU diff, not BSD diff. BSD derived doesn't mean BSD diff, evidently.

[Imladris:tla-1.1/src/build] augie% ../configure --prefix /Users/augie/unixSoft

The configured versions of diff and diff3 do not handle files
not ending in newline correctly.

configured diff = diff.
configured diff3 = diff3.

Use config options
--with-gnu-diff PROG
--with-gnu-diff3 PROG
[...]
(Example systems: some NetBSD, FreeBSD, and MacOS versions.)

% diff --version
diff - GNU diffutils version 2.7
% whereis diff
/usr/bin/diff
% diff3 --version
diff3 - GNU diffutils version 2.7
% whereis diff3
/usr/bin/diff3
