Hi Craig,

Are you sure that the -P (--poslog) option does not meet your needs? This was introduced in the 2.3 series.

Currently I find myself quickly jumping between the shell and nano, as an alternative to the subshell features of vim/emacs. The fact that nano starts near-instantly makes it obvious I need no such feature in nano, but it would improve my workflow immeasurably if nano would remember the line number (per-file) between editing sessions, to alleviate the need to scroll back on each invocation.

I've tried using the suspend feature and also GNU screen, but it seems keeping a hash of file:line-number would accommodate every use case of this more naturally, even when exiting or when not anticipated.

Would this feature be accepted in nano if I were to submit a patch (with a corresponding nanorc option)?
