grub-probe doesn't change mount information. The only unusual thing it does is accessing disk directly. This is not anything that should create any problem so if it's software problem at all, it's in driver

no, the stick is fresh. But the second thing can be (just 8 €).

But even it is a bad product this behaviour shouldn't exist.
It seems so as if grub-probe changes some mount information about the block device.
Together with a bad driver (what I think) a wonderful explosive mixture.

Most likelya the stick is near death or is a very bad Chinese product which works at all only by chance.

I don't know if it is driver problem but my other programs work well with the flashdrive.
Just grub-probe causes this strange bug:
first grub-probe hangs then either the device disappears for the other programs or a partition is displayed with the fantastic size of some terabyte (by palimpsest).
It is only one flashdrive from which I know such a behaviour but I think it exist more of them.
The error causing flashdrive is a "Intenso Rainbow Line" with a size of 16 GB. On this flashdrive is only a ext4 filesystem. The stick has a msdos partion table.
The grub version I use is 2.00 rc1 (arch linux).

hang

ext2 //(the result)

I found some grub-probe targets which work well with the flashdrive:
grub-probe -t device -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t partmap -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t drive -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t msdos_parttype -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t cryptodisk_uuid -d /dev/sdd1

but not:
grub-probe -t fs_uuid -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t fs -d /dev/sdd1
grub-probe -t abstraction -d /dev/sdd1
