If I correctly understand your whish, I think you should test the drawing tools. Do Insert->Image->Draw_Image, and then you will be able to draw basic graphics (point, (poly)lines, smooth curves, etc.) and text or math contents, in any color of your choice.

Dear Enda,

Your wish could not be more timely! Quite ironically, the feature you suggest in your PS has just been introduced in Texmacs' source code a few days ago: You can now copy-paste fragments of Texmacs documents in Inkscape (and even re-edit the source!).
Presently this works well only in Linux, but it should not be too long before in works also on MacOs and Windows.

or ability to have texmacs style input in a program like inkscape (or krita) in order to insert formulae into svg file, so that the svg and formulae can be in the same document.
