I just started to see a similar problem on Linux with the cairo backend. Not sure if this is related, but when I display a huge image in a normal NSView inside a scroll view and start to scroll, then the views stays empty and need ot trigger a redraw for the image to get displayed.

This may be completely unrelated, but is just as annoying as your problem :-)

Could you please check whether there was any output from the backend explaining what went wrong. On Windows this output will end up in the Windows event log, unless you run the application in a debugger.

When displaying a big image in an NSImageView inside a scroll-view, on Windows, it is not displayed at all (the scroll-view size is calculated correctly though).

I am referring to imaqges like 5000x3000 pixels.

Reproduce:
Open LaternaMagica, add a large image. if large enough, it will display gray (the scrollbars resize correctly).
Smaller images do work fine.

The same image will display correctly on gnustep running on linux.
