I updated line 616 to:

# if defined(linux) || defined(_convex_) || (BSD >= 199103) || defined(sun)

which worked for me on Solaris ( SunOS 5.10 ).

There's an #ifdef to split out the two- and three-argument
versions of setenv(). Looks like you need to pick out the
#define for your SunOS environment and add it to the conditional.
