I am sorry for this bug. I do not have a lot of time right now... I will try to take a look at it next week. Still, it is working right for me, so it is very hard for me to fix. Have you got any problems with other games using SDL_mixer? If you have any other further information, such as system specs, or if you could run a version of the program with debugging simbols enabled, it would ease the bug hunting for me.

Thanks a lot,

JP

Third comment to myself... ok. I really want to get this working. But I just turned the sound down to zero and the game still crashed.

So I got the program to crash while in gdb. Here is the backtrace:

#0 0xb7c1c728 in playevents () from /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0
#1 0xb7a6782b in ?? () from /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0
#2 0xb7ab97bd in ?? () from /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0
#3 0xb7e714ff in start_thread () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libpthread.so.0
#4 0xb7d4f49e in clone () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6

So looks like it is a sound issue.

I've attached the entire output from gdb here. It took about 20 - 30 seconds of playing to get it to crash.

Update: I downloaded source code version 1.06 from the gnujump website. Compiled and installed successfully and crashes (freezes and does not accept Ctrl+C) the same when I try jumping.

I tried to run it with gdb and I could not reproduce the crash.

So, games runs fine when in debugger but the exact same code does not run fine normally.

So I am guessing that it is either a timing issue because it runs slower in the debugger or it is an error that is caused by some sort of optimization. Or something else that I am missing because this only happens for me in Ubuntu Netbook Remix.

Please fix the game. I like it.

This is on Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Gnujump works fine in normal Ubuntu. If I switch to classic desktop it still crashes.

Running from the commandline does not give me any helpful information about this crash. I have tried:

gnujump -o
gnujump -s
gnujump -a
gnujump -n

I'm going to download the source code and step through and see if I can narrow down where the error is.

I can't find what version I'm running. How do I check that?
