Problem solved, probably by some Windows update.

FWIW I tried on Ubuntu 18.10 and octave 5.1.1
I could not make it crash

Whenever I start a debug session and stop at a breakpoint, Octave chrashes when I open another .m file or when I right click on a function and select "edit <function_name>". This happens in any .m file I debugg and any breakpoint I set.

No problems under Octave 4.4.1
