just for the sake of semantics this one should just be 'wont-fix' - because v7 was a total re-write i dont think any v6 issues are truly duplicates

a few months ago when nathan released v7, i went through all the existing issues and marked each one as 'wont-fix' asking the OP to see if v7 demonstrates the same problem - i had planned to close them all at once after some time has passed

this issue was originally reported against v6 like the others - i think i set it as 'need-info' rather than "wont-fix" like the others because the OP was still attentive - it's been long enough now that this and those other "wont-fix" issues can probably be closed now

Confirming this as a duplicate of https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?53051

Weblabels support is being worked on. In the meantime I'm closing this as a duplicate.

ok thanks - this is clear now

the problem with weblabels has been confirmed on another site also  - there is an open ticket for that #53051[1] - if you would like to watch progress on that ticket you could add a comment saying like: "i see this same problem on https://posteo.de/" - that will add you to the CC list for that ticket

libreJS v7 is now considered to be the current stable release and is a nearly total re-write - libreJS v6 was obsoleted my mozilla and is not going to be updated - all further development will be on libreJS v7 so this issue is marked as "Need Info" for now until the web labels issue is resolved - perhpas after then it could be determined if the original problem still exists in libreJS v7

The behavior I described applies to LibreJS 6.0.13. When I try to login [1] no non-free JavaScript is detected but still I'm not able to login (see my original report).

Apart from that: I read 'Setting Your JavaScript Free' [2] now and found out that Posteo uses a JavaScript Web Labels table [3] and both login pages ([1] and [4]) include a link to this license information page (in the footer)…

Looking at the JavaScript Web Labels table it seems to me that the script you mentioned, 'basics.js', is licensed under GPLv3+.

As a customer I want to complain to Posteo, but first I'd like to try to understand what the problem actually is.

ok - i have verified this - it appears that libreJS is blocking an unlicensed script 'basic.js' from executing on that page with multiple reasons given - what do you suppose that libeJS is doing incorrectly?

The behavior I described applies to LibreJS 6.0.13, I'm using Firefox ESR 52.6.0 on Debian Buster.

I installed Firefox 58.0.2 now and tested the site with LibreJS 7.11. In both cases (https://posteo.de/ and https://posteo.de/en/login) non-free JavaScript is detected and blocked, so I can't login. The login button is greyed out, instead of 'Login' it says 'Please enable JavaScript'.

note that libreJS v0.7 is a nearly total re-write; so this issue very likely refers to only one of them

can you specify which version of libreJS this behavior apllies to?

if this behavior is seen using libreJS v0.6 could you try libreJS v0.7 on a firefox derivative >= v58 wo see if the same issue still exists?

I have a posteo.de email address. Some days ago I discovered this three years old article on the website of the FSF: 'FSF JavaScript guidelines picked up by Posteo Webmail' [1].

I installed and enabled LibreJS to test if the site works now, but it turned out it's still impossible to log in.

1. I went to https://posteo.de/en/login
2. I put in my username and password and hit 'LOG IN'
3. I get the error message 'Login was not successful.'

On https://posteo.de/ there seem to be three nonfree JavaScript, which are blocked by LibreJS, but at https://posteo.de/en/login LibreJS tells me 'LibreJS did not block any scripts on this page'.
