If the stick is booted using the standard route, a totally different interface appears, and commands can be edited without needing the control key. However this is no good as a workaround, as I am trying to get this to work on a system which insists on EFI booting.

I'm attempting to use the CentOS-7-x86_64-LiveGNOME-1511.iso image from a USB stick via EFI. The image was downloaded and put on the stick using dd if=xxx.iso of=/dev/sdb .
