This is a feature of the environment, not the program. That is you will be able to tell your xfce to do this (probably on the basis that the file name ends .denemo).
Having said that, the installation procedure may be able to set this up for you, in which case the bug needs to go to whoever created the package you are using.
Please ask on the mailing list if you need more help setting this up.

I think it would be nice to open a file in a tab when you click on a denemo file in xfce. This is the behaviour that firefox has and would be nice to see denemo do that also.
