Me neither, with a few more years of experience.

Oh, well. Keep as it is for now. Closing for adler, feel free to re-open if you want for later.

oops, when I see your changes in low_level_redirection_example, I'm convinced, that I took a look at redirection_example yesterday and only wrote about low_level_redirection - even my commit-message was wrong...

Could you please double check my changes in redirection_example? - If this is what you described as the upper layer redirection I'd add a few comments about this.

But I still do not see the benefit of STANDARD_STREAMS over just using a singleton of the output stream in the application...

ok, this way low_level_redirection makes sense. redirection_example.e is still strange, the idea behind this is to be upper layer redirection, right? So the application should use standard_streams.std_output, which could be redirected via standard_streams.set_std_output. This really seems redundant, we could make the standard_streams.set_std_*-features obsolete or document the two variants.

Anyhow, are there any pros for the standard_streams-way?

I improved the example, please tell me what you do not understand.

It has nothing to do with STANDARD_STREAMS. We have two ways to redirect standard streams, one is low level (completely transparent to the rest of the program), one is upper level (needs support from the program), but maybe it is redundant.

Rmk doesn't understand how STANDARD_STREAMS and ANY.std_output shall work together when std_output shall be redirected. Liberty/tutorial/io/LOW_LEVEL_REDIRECTION_EXAMPLE does now compile but is still not functional.

Additionally it's unclear how STDIN and STDOUT should re restored once redirected...
