I see a wavy picture when opening the TeXmacs file (after installing the style file).  On the other hand the raw bad.jpg picture that you uploaded does not open with any of my software (Gimp, TeXmacs, Preview).  At least, there does not seem to be a particular bug inside TeXmacs.

After a few pemutations in opening, saving and deleting the cache, I got it, but only with the stock 1.0.7.15. With the latest svn, all I see is "sw-waves" in red letters surrounded by blue brackets, which I suppose is also a bug...

I just tried downloading the .tm and .ts files to the same directory and it all worked fine (or rather, failed to work).

Can you confirm that the .ts file was in the same directory as the .tm file?

Otherwise, try loading like this:

texmacs pic.tm pic.ts

and then save pic.ts from within texmacs, I've known that to stimulate texmacs into noticing the style file.

When I load the file all I see in the document is

<sw-waves>

It's as if the style didn't load (updating didn't help). ???

With yesterdays latest texmacs, this document and style (with an image defined in a style) only shows the image the first time it is loaded.

After that, I get the error:

Corrupt JPEG data: 7679 extraneous bytes before marker 0xee
JPEG datastream contains no image
TeXmacs] warning: cannot render /home/sam/.TeXmacs/system/tmp/tmp_1537041541.jpg

If I: rm -fr  ~/.TeXmacs/system/*

then it will show the next time, but again after I start texmacs it fails.

The file: .TeXmacs/system/tmp/tmp_1537041541.jpg
as aspects of jpeg but also contains xml and other seeming rubbish. I attach it as bad.jpg

If I transfer the body of the .ts file to the .tm file then the tmp jpeg file is still rubbish but it displays properly.
