I realized that it may be only the display of the cursor (shown at the end of the footnote) that is wrong.

I'm not sure it is always true, but I just realized that clicking on the first line of a footnote where I want to place the cursor only apparently does not work (the red cursor indicator is shown at the end of the footnote). However the status bar indicates that the actual edit point is where I wanted, and indeed if I type text it is inserted correctly where I wanted, and the red cursor indicator moves to the correct position.

I confirm this. It hit me too in the past, but I could not find a clear pattern under which it occurs or not (I have files whith long footnotes that work).

This behavior seems to depend on some strange combination. For instance if you take Alvaro's sample and apply the article style, then you can reach the first line of the first footnote. But this is not a fix: if you make the second footnote more than three lines, then this one is broken.

The bug affects only foonotes that are more than three lines long. Attachment has been updated to show the difference.

The first line of a footnote is inaccessible, either with cursor or with mouse.

Also (rather minor compared to that), the sequential movement of cursor to the right in the main text enters the footnote from the end.
