Gpaint, which is a nifty little drawing program, does not respond well to the user trying to save a file with a filename like, say, chainsawchickvsrabidpigs.comic

What happens is it spits out an error message saying it doesn't recognize or support the file type "comic" and then crash, taking your unsaved work with it. I can understand it not wanting to use my .comic filename extension because it confuses a simple naming convention with a file/MIME type, but it would have been nice to just get the warning and then an opportunity to change the filename, rather than "here's what I don't like about what you're trying to do and now I'm-a go away, sucker, and hope you weren't too keen on your little sketch, there."

Version I'm using :

flick@lil-spooky:~$ aptitude show gpaint
Package: gpaint
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 0.3.3-2
Priority: optional
Section: gnome

On Crunchbang Linux, a variant of Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.
