Hello,

actually we have this fix from Ubuntu community:

http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/screen.git/patch/?id=3cf5a072aa1d39ce605083d640d16889df1137c4

but this code was added to git after the last official screen release, I guess.

unix password is not always needed
ssh public key authentication is such a case
accidental c-a c-x locks screen with no way to unlock it
