I'll try to come up with a better description but see e.g
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?23603

the sources are those from the subversion tree (head or trunk as you name it)

System:
Linux fvl 2.6.22
 gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: x86_64-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../src/configure -v --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran,objc,obj-c++ --prefix=/usr --enable-shared --with-system-zlib --libexecdir=/usr/lib --without-included-gettext --enable-threads=posix --enable-nls --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2 --program-suffix=-4.2 --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-libstdcxx-debug --enable-objc-gc --enable-mpfr --enable-checking=release --build=x86_64-linux-gnu --host=x86_64-linux-gnu --target=x86_64-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.2.4 (Debian 4.2.4-2+b1)

 make --version
GNU Make 3.81

Making all for test_tool dictionary...

If you can tell me on how to get the information on what version the base, back and gui stuff is I happily will post it also
AFAIKT. it's base 0.14

This program built for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu

Could you give a full description of your machine, the compiler you're using and the libraries you're linking with?

Are you installing from source or from debian packages?

I would surly try but currently I simply can not even run ProjectCenter without a crash.

I update all the sources from the subvesion tree, compile and installed all new
make,base,gui,back.

I will open a nother bug report with the information about my troubles.

Friedrich

I am, honestly, not seeing this happening.

I can't recreate it with the latest version of ProjectCenter as you can see on the screenshot it's running both in the Launcher window and GDB.

Please create a new project with PC and try this again.  I would like to see what you get at that point.

Thanks, GC

I'm sorry but the bug still is there. I checked out the newest versions the naming seems to have changed again and ProjectCenter has not kept up

Well it's kind of fixed but not really workable. First problem:
while generating a program the following variable is not properly written:
GNUSTEP_BUILD_DIR = /home/frido/programming/Objective-C/test5

I don not what it takes but, it's not the entry above
See here an example of freshly allocated Toolproject:
GNUSTEP_BUILD_DIR = /home/frido/programming/Objective-C/test2/test2.debug/test6.build

Well I have not the slightest idea why it takes test2/test2.debug
I have choosen /home/frido/programming/Objective-C/test6

However if I correct that it find the files, runs the application or opens the debugger. Howerver the following is broken
If I click on Other Sources there is an entry called main.m (this is the file I have to edit and which obviously was generated by ProjectCenter) but nothing happens if I just click on it. It is not open in the Editor

I'm sorry but it seems something is broken...

Thanks for your help!

Thanks Friedrich ... I had a look and fixed running apps/tools in a different way, I'll now merge in your changes to debug them. :-)

Here's a modfied path which at least allows to start the applicatoin and the debugger on some project. It's still hack, but at least it makes ProjectCenter a bit useful again.

Ok, here's a patch which at least allows to launch the Program. But be warned it is a hack. I just assumed that the file is placed in the obj subdirectory without further checks. This is not good, if the path could not be found then some error dialog if more appropriate.

I attach a patch:

Fri 27 Apr 2007 07:50:48 AM UTC, original submission:

The following happens while trying ProjectCenter for Objective-C programming. (System Debian AMD 64). I have a fresh compiler and install from ProjectCenter.
Now the following happens:
creating a new tool project. A file is generated but neither can I
run the launch the program from within ProjectCenter nor am I able to start  debug-session.

Here's the outpt while trying ot launch the Tool:
opt/GNUstep/System/Tools/opentool: line 196: /home/frido/programming/Objective-C/test2/t3/t3: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden

sure because the file is placed into obj subdirectory

On trying to launch the debugger one just gets a Messagebox Telling
Debug

Run Terminal application first. If I launch the Terminal before i got the error message
Debug
Can't execute t3.debug

I do not know what you are doing with GNUstep but that this fails in such a way gives a very very very bad impression.

Friedrich
